April 2011
Hydrounit #3 on HPP “Thak-Ba” (Vietnam) was put into warranty experimental-industrial operation.

In April, 2011 “PNS-HEM” Ltd finished starting-up and commissioning of the third and last hydrounit on HPP «Thak Ba». HPP “Thak Ba” with the established capacity 108 МW has been built in Vietnam on the river Chai with technical support of the former USSR, and was the first one in the country to supply the northern areas with the electricity. In 2009 on the hydrounit №3 the expanded maintenance of Kaplan turbine with unit capacity 37 МW and runner diameter 4,5 m was carried out. After reconstruction capacity of the hydrounit has been extended to 41 МW.

When 72-hours load tests were successfully carried out the unit was put into warranty experimental-industrial operation. During starting-up and commissioning works capacity, vibrating characteristics, temperature mode and pressure under a turbine cover were checked. All test parameters correspond to norms and according to it Acceptance Certificate was signed.

Hydrounit #2 of HPP Vartsyhe in Georgia was successfully put into operation.

On March 29, 2010 Hydrounit СВ 866/70-52М УХЛ4 of HPP Vartsyhe with capacity 23 MW was put into operation.
HPP Vartsyhe – 2 is one of four diversion Hydro Power Plants in the downstream of the Rioni River in the Western part of Georgia that are situated sequentially one by one (Vartsyhe HPP-1, HPP-2, HPP-3, HPP-4). Gross complex output is 184 MW.
From May, 2009 PNS Company started works on HPP Vartsyhe.
According to the Contract the Company performed project, dismounting, electromounting and commissioning works on modernization of regulating system and automatic control systems of hydrounit #2 with power 23 MW. In October 2009 were completed works on installation of speed regulator, excitation system, generator breaker, control and automatics system of the unit. From December, 2009 dismounting and mounting works of electrotechnical equipment and automation equipment were begun.
From 26.03.2010 to 29.03.2010 hydrogenerator successfully passed complex testing under load determined by station works conditions.

In May, 2009 company PNS began works on HPP “Vartsyhe” (Georgia).

In October 2009 were completed works on installation of speed regulator, excitation system, generator breaker, control and automatics system of unit. From December, 2009 began dismounting and mounting works of electrotechnical equipment and automation equipment.

PNS specialists started works on one of the oldest Afghan HPP

PNS specialists started works on one of the oldest Afghan HPP in Darunta, Jalalabad suburbs, administrative center of the Eastern Afghan province Nangarkhar. Together with specialists from the company AIP (Afghan Power Corporation), Contractor of the company ANHAM that received means for plant reconstruction from American agency of economic development (USAID), perform works on reconstruction of HPP that over 45 satisfies needs of Jalalabad and its suburbs in electricity.
As of December, 2009 were finished works on project development, armory, manufacturing and commissioning of processor protection, automatics and control panel for hydrounits # 1,2,3. In November, 2009 began works on dismounting, mounting, enabling and commissioning of electrical equipment. Besides, PNS specialists carry out technical supervision, render organizational and consultative aid to Afghan colleges.

PNS completes the works at Kurakhovskaya TPP

PNS has completed replacement of the excitation system on the turbine unit Nr 5 (rated power of 225 MW) of Kurakhovskaya Thermo Power Plant (Donetsk Region, Ukraine). In February 2009 the unit has succesfully reached full power and completed reliability run. During execution of the project, PNS has sucessfully taken care of the full scope of works including engineering, dismantling of the old excitation system as well as installation and commissioning of the new, microprocessor-based excitation system made by “Preobrazovatel” Works (Zaporozhie, Ukraine). PNS is going to provide similar services for the second excitation system, installation and commissioning of which is foreseen by the retrofit program of Kurakhovskaya TPP until the end of 2009.

PNS continues engineering works for OJSC “Ukrhydroenergo”

As a part of the second stage of the rehabilitation project at OJSC “Ukrhydroenergo”, which is financed by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, PNS has been commissioned to execute integration engineering for static excitation systems manufactured by Alstom. The work package includes integration of the new equipment into existing infrastructure of the power plants, development of schematic diagrams for the interface circuits and preparation of cable lists. While working on the project, engineers of PNS received a training at Alstom’s premises in Belfort (France). At present stage, the integration engineering of the new excitation systems has already been finished for Kakhovka, Kiev and Dnistro HPPs. PNS is planning to complete the whole integration engineering project by December of 2010.

PNS completes works at the pump station Nassiriya in Iraq

Engineers of PNS have completed large work package at Nassiriya Pump Station in Iraq. Since April 2008, 12 pump units with the rated capacity 2 MW each have been taken into operation. During this time, PNS has completed installation and commissioning of pumps’ drives, 0.4kV and 6 kV switchgear, protection and automation systems as well as excitation systems for synchronous motors. Now, when the pump station has been put into commercial operation, our specialists continue technical support of the installed equipment and help Iraqi operating staff.

PNS successfully passes an audit by ABB Switzerland Ltd

According to the rules and regulations of ABB Switzerland Ltd, all the suppliers of goods and services must undergo a regular suppliers’ audit. Upon the results of the audit it is decided whether partner companies may be introduced/kept on the list of preferred suppliers. The potential vendors are assessed based on the number of criteria, including company’s management, operational excellence, business processes, quality and price. PNS was audited by ABB Switzerland Ltd during visit of its representatives to Kiev from 08 to 10 September 2008. In total PNS has scored 82%, which allowed us to confirm our status of preferred service provider to ABB (score of 50% fully qualifies a company as preferred supplier).
